About

Peter Knox is an experienced book marketer and publishing consultant. He is VP, Head of Marketing, and Client Experience Director at BookHighlight, a premier book marketing and sales agency based in Brooklyn, New York.

Driven by a passion for connecting new books to the readers that benefit from them, Peter works with first-time and veteran authors alike to make a lasting impact on publication day and beyond. By visualizing and communicating the value and promise of the author, Peter has demonstrated the business benefit to building a brand, establishing a platform, and leading with the book.

Prior to developing the marketing and creative program at BookHighlight, Peter was the Senior Marketing Manager leading the trade business book group at Wiley for almost fourteen years following his certification from the Columbia Publishing Course.

His start in books was as the Student Director of the Literary House Press at Washington College, where he was awarded the Haddock Prize for Publishing Excellence.

What I Do

At BookHighlight, where I serve as VP, Head of Marketing, and Client Experience Director, I I support authors throughout the publication process, from proposal through pub date and beyond.

Over my two decades in publishing I have worked with over two thousand authors to bring their ideas to market while earning placements on National Bestseller lists as they reach their largest possible audience. I’ve seen what works, what doesn’t, and what it takes to achieve lasting impact through a book.

My Career

Before joining BookHighlight, I was the Senior Marketing Manager at Wiley Publishing, where I led the trade business book group for almost fourteen years. In that time I learned firsthand the ins and outs of publishing a successful book, as well as the dozens of people involved in launching that book into the world.

Wanting to deliver that gap between what authors truly need in support that publishers simply don’t have the bandwidth or ability to provide, I built BookHighlight’s creative team in Brooklyn to be that difference maker.

My publishing career began at Washington College, where I served as Student Director of the Literary House Press and was awarded the Haddock Prize for Publishing Excellence.

Beyond Work

Outside of publishing, I enjoy traveling to new places, taking photos, watching movies, attending concerts and sporting events, all the while sharing my recommendations with friends.

Occasionally I find myself on the news, in books, or film. Here is you can find where I’ve been featured in media, printed in published books, and my appearances on screen.

Contact me over social if you’d like to connect. I’d love to hear what drives you and what you’re currently reading.

As I grew up, I grew up reading… under the covers with a flashlight, hidden behind a textbook or under my desk at school, always with a book no matter what, constantly getting motion-sick while reading on car trips… and my fantasy was being able to have a book with me always (imagine the dream realized once smartphones and ereaders were invented!).
